Sound art Works:
Woven Sound: An Evening of Non-retrievable Music - Using sound to transform the way an audience perceives visual art (2026): About 90 minutes
Woven Sound was conceived and presented as an immersive, site-specific performance exploring how sound reshapes the audience’s experience of visual art. Premiered at the 701 Center for Contemporary Art in Columbia, South Carolina on May 13, 2026, in collaboration with the exhibition By Hand & Machine, the project featured a small ensemble (7 musicians) integrated throughout the gallery to create a surrounding sonic environment inspired by the works of six textile artists: Kristy Bishop, Amalia Galdona Broche, Catharine Ellis, Amy Putansu, Jon Eric Riis, and Christine Tedesco. Musical material was developed through prior study of the exhibited works alongside real-time improvisation, establishing a dialogue between static visual media and evolving sound. The performance emphasized perceptual transformation, accessibility beyond the concert hall, and innovative forms of audience engagement within a contemporary art space.
-Premiering musicians: Austin Engelhardt, Geordan Raisler, Nick Muellner, Cody Raymes, Shelby Miller, Taylor Klonowski, Gabriel Newvine
Visual Music - Community painting with sound waves and vibration (2025): No specific duration
Visual Music reimagines how we experience and create music by merging live performance with visual art. The performance expands music-making beyond the traditional concert hall, inviting participants to engage with sound as both an auditory and physical force. The performance explores the intersection of sound and visual art through the “sonic painting” process. Canvases were placed on top of speakers that amplified live music, allowing sound waves to vibrate the surface as participants applied paint directly onto the canvases. The resulting movement of pigment visually captures the energy of the performance- transforming sound into color, rhythm into motion. In this way, all participants are equally involved in the artistic process.
-Premiered at the Russel House in Columbia South Carolina on November 7, 2025.
-Performed as part of the Southern Exposure Gala (March 21, 2026)
